Obesity and the Immune System

 The Institute of Biology of Ireland are organising a talk entitled "Obesity and the Immune System – murmurations on a theme".

Speaker: Professor Donal O’Shea (Consultant Endocrinologist), St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. It is a very interesting topic and Professor O Shea’s work was recently highlighted in RTE’s ‘The Obesity Clinic’ and he is a consultant to ‘Operation Transformation’.

KidWind Ireland is a project that seeks to support teachers all over Ireland to access training programs and equipment in wind energy. The course may be useful for Transition Year and the new Junior Cycle activities.

The primary aim of the KidWind program is to train and equip teachers at primary and second level to teach their own students about wind energy and provide knowledge about the industry and topic. The program is aimed at teachers of science, mathematics and geography although others may attend. This 4 day course is hands-on with a practical focus. Science in Art Workshop for Teens in NUI Galway

FREE once-off Science in Art Workshop for Teens aged 14-18years will take place on Saturday 30th April 13:30-16:30 at NUI Galway. It will be run by the ‘Explore Science in Art’ project team. The workshop will blur the boundaries between art and science by showing the scientific method and principles involved in art and the creativity required in science.
