Register now: FREE Water Explorer Workshops with GAP Ireland 

Water Explorer encourages students aged 8-14 from 11 countries to take bold and powerful action to save our precious water through fun, interactive water saving missions. Global Action Plan Ireland provides free Kickstarter workshops to registered schools to introduce the programme and tackle the first challenge together. Water Explorer is a web-based programme that is fully supported by GAP Ireland’s staff in Ireland.

Berrings National School scoops Top Prize in Nationwide Water Conservation Challenge 2016

Congratulations to Berrings National School from County Cork who have been announced as the National Water Explorer Programme Winner 2016 in an innovative online water conservation initiative organised by the charity Global Action Plan.

The Water Explorer programme focuses on pupils aged 8-14 years in developing their understanding of how water affects lives, and how they can develop practical ideas to protect and save water in school communities.

Pupils from Berrings National School took home a €300 cash prize and a specially-commissioned trophy and framed certificate following an awards ceremony held at the Axis Theatre in Ballymun, Dublin.

The award honours the pupils for their outstanding efforts across the whole programme in taking action to protect and conserve our fresh water and for excelling in the areas of awareness raising and community outreach. Last school year, Berrings National School saved a total of 1858 litres of water through their activities—an outstanding achievement.

The Water Explorer project, supported by the HSBC Water Programme, is part of an international initiative involving 11 countries. 

 

Global Action Plan’s New Initiative – “Water Explorer 2016”

Leading environmentalist Duncan Stewart, Olympic pentathlete, Natalya Coyle, and high performance swimmer Bethany Carson, today launched Global Action Plan’s innovative ‘Water Explorer 2016’ programme in the Dublin’s National Aquatic Centre. Schools around the country are being encouraged to sign up to the water conservation programme and help save the equivalent of 500 bath tubs of water in those schools taking part by June 2016.
