It affords you many opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) throughout the year. As you are aware, CPD is an important aspect of subject inspections and Whole School Evaluation and is also important in terms of career development – especially when attending interviews.
As a member:
You will be part of the professional body of science teachers in Ireland.
You will receive 3 issues of the SCIENCE journal each year. This journal contains numerous articles of interest to science teachers and will help to keep you informed of developments in science education, new syllabi and methodologies etc.
You will be kept informed of all in-service events being organised by our association at local and national level.
You will receive emails, newsletters and circulars on various events being organised by ISTA at branch level, national level and international level.
You will be entitled to enter your students in science competitions, quizzes and other events organised by the ISTA.
You will be kept up to date with changes in all science syllabi and will have direct representation via the ISTA which is represented on all NCCA science syllabus committees.
You will be entitled to use the Forum on the ISTA website to make your views on various science education issues known to other ISTA members.
You will be entitled to a reduced registration fee at the ISTA Annual Conference.
You will receive information from other organisations associated with science education (e.g. science exhibitions, science competitions, etc)
As a Third Level member:
You will be part of the professional body of science teachers in Ireland.
Each year you will receive 3 issues of the ISTA journal SCIENCE. This journal contains numerous articles of interest to science teachers and will help to keep you informed of developments in science education.
You will be kept informed of all events that are organised by the ISTA at local and national level.
You will have direct access to over 1200 science teachers in Ireland
You will be entitled to a reduced registration fee at the ISTA Annual Conference.
You may advertise in SCIENCE journal for a reduced fee for member institutions. The normal fee is €300 for a full page advertisement in the journal. The fee for ISTA member institutions is €200.
You will receive some circulars and e-mails to keep you up to date with various events happening in your local ISTA branch and at national and international level
You will also be able to ask the local ISTA branch to inform its members of events that you are organising in your institution that are relevant to second level science students.
The name of your institution will be listed in the ISTA journal as an institution that is a member of the ISTA
As a Corporate member:
You will be part of the professional body of science teachers in Ireland.
Each year you will receive 3 issues of the ISTA journal SCIENCE. This journal contains numerous articles of interest and will help to keep your company informed of developments in science education.
You will be kept informed of all events that are organised by the ISTA at local and national level.
You will have direct access to over 1200 science teachers in Ireland.

The name of your company will be listed in the ISTA journal as a company that is a corporate member of ISTA.
