The Dublin Branch will hold its next event on Tuesday 28th February at 7 pm in the National Botanic Gardens. Dr. Matthew Jebb Director of the National Botanic Gardens will give a talk entitled Viruses & the Virosphere.
Matthew’s talk will explain how a growing understanding of the way that viruses are vital to the ocean ecosystem, the functioning of our guts, and even the appearance of African savannahs shines a radical light on the functioning of the Virosphere. Ultimately us mammals would not be here but for viruses, and they may even explain the remarkable abilities of the human brain.
This talk will be of interest to all and will give extra insight into the everyday applications of viruses which can support the teaching of microbiology at junior and senior cycle.
