The Galway Branch is hosting a workshop on Gel Electrophoresis
Location: Dominican College, Taylor’s Hill (H91C573)
Date: Monday 7th April
Time: 6 pm to 8 pm
The workshop will go through how to set up and use the electrophoresis equipment and use it in the following case study: PTC Genetics – looking at a gene that illustrates Mendelian Inheritance, uses Punnett Squares to make a hypothesis about why a particular individual is a non-taste of bitter compounds while the rest of her family is a taster. We will run the DNA fragments that represent the gene for a bitter taste for her family members to establish their genotype and compare to the predictions made by using Punnett Squares. This links well with the new LC Biology Specification.
MiniOne will also be at the National ISTA conference this weekend.
Spaces are limited. Please register your interest at the link below. Places will be confirmed by email in the coming days.
