The Cork Branch of ISTA will run a five-week introductory course on Electronics starting on Wed 23rd October 2024 and continuing on Wed 6 November, Wed 13 November, Wed 20 November and Wed 27 November. The course will be held face-to-face as a lot of “hands-on” lab practical work is involved. The sessions will be held in the Eureka Centre UCC and in the Department of Electronic Engineering MTU. The course will run from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. when in UCC and from 6.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. when in MTU.
The objective of the course is to provide upskilling to secondary school science teachers in the area of electricity and electronics. The course will be particularly useful to teachers who teach Transition Year physics and it is also relevant to the electricity section of the Junior Cycle science specification and the electronics section of the Leaving Certificate physics syllabus.
No previous knowledge of electronics is required. Applications will be accepted from both ISTA and non-ISTA members. If you wish to attend the course, please send an email to Dr Declan Kennedy (d.kennedy@ucc.ie) giving your name, contact telephone number and school address. Numbers are based on a first-come basis.
