In Memoriam: Dr. Oliver Ryan (R.I.P.)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Oliver Ryan, former lecturer in Science Education at University College Galway and past President of the Irish Science Teachers’ Association. Dr. Ryan was a dedicated educator and a cherished figure in the field of Science Education. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Science Education of the Year Awards for ISTA, which he presented with his trademark wit and warmth at many ISTA annual conferences.
Dr. Ryan was deeply admired by all who had the privilege of working with and knowing him. His contributions to the scientific community and to the development of future educators will be remembered fondly. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many students whose lives he touched. Sincere condolences to his wife Jacqueline and his family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
