Summer Works Scheme Applications Open

The Department of Education have opened applications for the newly titled Climate Action Summer Works Scheme (CASWS). This is relevant for science teachers as it’s currently the only mechanism by which schools can apply for laboratory refurbishment and upgrades. If you think your school laboratories require upgrades in advance of the introduction of the new specifications, please encourage and support your school principal to make an application to the CASWS. There are ten categories that schools can apply for but they can only apply for one project (science labs fall under category 5). Please encourage your principals to apply as multiple applications to address laboratory provision this year would support the ISTA’s claim that there is not sufficient laboratory infrastructure to support the introduction of the AAC model being proposed. Applications open in May and close at the end of June 2025.
