ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards

The ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards is open to young people (aged 10-18) from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Closing deadline 29th November.

Action projects are anything from creating a school garden or recycling facility, enhancing local biodiversity levels, tackling waste or climate change and a whole lot more besides! You carry out the project, and we give you the chance to be rewarded and win some great prizes for doing so!

· The project requires little input or direction from teachers as on-going support and advice comes directly from ECO-UNESCO.

· Through a 6 Steps to Success framework, an easy to follow manual and a YEA hotline, participants will be well equipped to carry out their very own environmental action project!

Why take part?

The ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards programme facilitates an experiential and active environmental education learning experience where young people engage in a local environmental action project which will benefit themselves and their school, youth organisation and community.

Participation in the programme is a great way to engage students to learn about environmental issues which link into the school curriculum, as well as developing key personal skills through their action-project.

  • Participants choose their own topics under a range of themes including, biodiversity, climate change, energy, waste and water to name a few. In this way, projects can be tailored to link in strongly with students’ formal studies.

There are Certificates for all registered participants and lots of prizes to be won!

The deadline for registration is the 29th of November. Registration is simple! Groups (between 2-25 members) can register online.
