Systems Biology Ireland (University College Dublin) and Biomedical Diagnostics Institute (Dublin City University) are offering secondary school science and biology teachers a unique opportunity to participate in the Amgen Biotech Experience, Ireland.

This innovative programme provides teachers with

• hands-on laboratory experience

• teaching materials relevant to new Biology syllabus

• access to professional grade scientific equipment.

The  workshops will take place on

Embedding an Investigative Approach into TY/JC Science topics

This workshop will provide teachers with a wealth of resources, activities, and ideas to enhance the teaching and learning of various topics in science through inquiry. 

The strategies that you will be introduced to are designed to stimulate student interest, engagement and involvement in TY . Activities can also be used in Junior Science. As students engage in these activities in your classroom, they develop their

Amgen Teach Workshop

The second Amgen Teach Workshop will take place on Saturday 28th February in NUI Maynooth. The focus of this session is on using sensors to promote inquiry in the science classroom. 

Experts will be available on the day to offer advice on the various types of sensor and data-logging technologies available. Participants wishing to bring their own data-loggers or sensors are more than welcome to do so, to gain experience and ask for advice on the actual equipment in their school laboratory. A more detailed description of this event is available on the attached flyer.
