New Senior Cycle Science Specifications Published
The NCCA has published the new specifications for Biology, Chemistry & Physics on its website Curriculum Online. These subjects will be introduced to schools from September 2025 and will be examined for the first time in June 2027. On initial inspection, there seems to be improved depth of treatment compared to the draft specifications, something highlighted in the ISTA report on those draft documents. Obviously, greater analysis will take place in the coming weeks by our subject committees.
The ISTA now shift our focus to supporting teachers in implementing the new specifications into their classrooms from September 2025. No doubt, there will be challenges ahead but lots of opportunities to explore our subject in new ways too.
